Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Automatic
Control Department (ESAII), Campus of Vilanova i la
Geltrú (ViG) – Barcelona, June 5-7, 2005
Duration
20 hours (Contact + Lab): Sun 4h, Mon 8h, Tue 8h.
Knowledge
Prerequisites
Foundations on Analog and Digital Electronics
Aim
To provide the theoretical and practical know-how to
design electronic embedded systems for information
processing based on Computational Intelligence
techniques. The course addresses both theoretical issues
and implementation details, from special-purpose VLSI to
programmable logic devices and microprocessors. Some
case studies of industrial and scientific applications will be
developed during the course.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to Computational Intelligence: Fuzzy
Systems, Neural Networks, Kernel Methods and
    Evolutionary Computation
  • Analog VLSI building blocks
  • Block integration
  • Industrial and scientific applications
Bibliography
  • I. Baturone et al, Microelectronic design of fuzzy-logic
    based systems, CRC Press, 2000
  • G. Cauwenberghs, Learning on Silicon, Kluwer, 1999
